Tolerate Intolerance

TOLERATING INTOLERANCE
Our duties and rights have all new meanings in current democracy. As part of free country governed by people elected by its population, we have learnt to be patient with impatience shown by some extremists over issues that hardly matter to our or anyone else’s life. While writing this piece, with reference to another topic, a Star News report flashing caught my eye. A bus was scorched after it ran over a boy and killed it. Are we ridiculed to this level, the accidents also have to be avenged in such a way?!!!!! Is this the country of idols of God and Goddesses in temple, church and mosque or country where demons walk on earth and declare their own judgment and impeach punishment according to them???!!!!! Being a youth of today’s genre like another youth I can’t help pondering over such dilemmas, queries!!! The responsibility as citizen, I want to fulfill and see country progress in present age of Globalization.
But, we are always laid back with some decision makers who think they have their won law and judicial system. Just days ago, Star news office was torn down to pieces for showing a report on an inter caste marriage and there was whole woah woah over Shilpa Shetty and Richard Gere kiss. I am ashamed to present this India to the world. The prevailing ignorance and arrogance in India sitting on nuclear, community, financial and God know what kinds of time bombs; increase the rotation speed of clocks. The judicial system where at one, is all gearing up and improving its loose ends, a parallel system of judiciary is budding at other end. The new boundaries of morals and taboo are now drawn and anyone even dare to breach it have his/her worst dreams come true.
The nuances and traumas of one’s life are going in public and mishandled by some, wrongly presented by others, misinterpreted by more and falsely reacted by nearly all. The literature and education has lost its norms to culture/creed and low thinking of current trend. Roasted minds, frustrated hands are scenario seen at every corner where abnormal fate encounters. “Eye for eye makes world blind” Gandhiji had once preached in India, but whole India is change since then. The vengeance is suave trend of today, whether living or dead the poison has to be spat out and horror is unleashed. Scorching buses, unwanted riots, stone pelting are arms of democracy used to express oneself, get heard and share limelight of media. Financial losses, shame of country, suppression of truth are drawbacks that sideline this new democratic front. When everyone is talking about shrinking the world, outsourcing, etc we are still stuck in our petty internal revenges. The scars of Babri riots, 1993 blasts, Sikh riots, ULFA unrest, Ltte demands and list goes on are so raw that we do not need red chilly powder of some kisses or nudity or moral standards to burn them off. The petty internal childish confrontations over nothing should be dislodged as a prank of past and get engaged in mystical current affairs to lay down map of India in glorious world rather than embarrassed, neglected sector. India vows to be one of largest democracy, but tables are turning towards Demo Crazy country.

India has definitely changed. But it us the people living here who have done it. The minds of the people living in this country are to be blamed for putting a halt on the country's progress.

India is changing and progressing, we need to give it some more time. We are much better than what we were ten years ag, right? And then, comparisions should always be made relative to the self, and not relative to the world. We are what we are, and we must accept that with pride.

There is more freedom in India than anywhere else in the world, but freedom without responsibility becomes a curse. What progress are you taking about ? Do you know the cost of progress we have paid ?
in 1947 India had 40% forest coverage, do you know what's left now ? only 3%. How many Indians know about this ? We know what Sharukh khan had for breakfast this morning. Globalisation has rsulted in mass suicides of farmers every day. Where this progress is leading us ? We are merrily marching towards extinction. Are we learning from the blunders the west has committed and regretting ? No we are still aping them, we are repeating those blunders. And every body jumps when the word ' reservation ' is mentioned. You defeat reservation and have a degree and what do you do ? you rush to the American embassy. People who could really help India are busy grabbing dollars.

no other country has been repeatedly invaded like India, 365 days of sunshine, water, fertile land, minerals you name it and we've got it. And yet India extends its begging bowl. Population is not a drawback it is a force which is not yet recognised. One billion people and one billion demands and those demands have to me met. Terrific business oppertunities, We have not recognised these oppertunities
but have allowed the giant multinational to take advantage. They have recognised our potentials. they are reaping the harvest. All the giant multinations still have their greedy eyes set on India. If you allow them there would not be a single Indian owned commercial establishment left in the country.
they will take advantage of all our internal wars. Because We are too busy with our petty beliefs. Superior and inferior cast, communal riots, reservation and what not.

seriously, we Indians seem to be the most intolerant of the whole lot... jus cos India is a democracy, some people resort to unwanted violence , which according to them is expressing their feelings,,, bulla..

we say we're improving but we know we aren't. China, Japan, korea, malaysia, singapore... compare their past with present, you will see drastic changes occured in past, but here earlier foreigners were looting, now our own people. we are ourselves responsible for it..

i'd a bitter experience yesterday, i'll post it within a day or two..

Um... what is it that you are tried to say in my blog? I cannot understand SMS language. Nor is punctuation-less English, comprehensible. Which is one of those reasons I wished every blogger looked out to the footnotes of each blog.

yeah.. tolerance is lacking very much in us indians... or its just a certain segment who have nothing else to do...

@ rauf,

I do not think that the writer is conflicting your views, in fact your comment complements his views. Attacking multinational's is is good in writing, however a tough job. Maybe we should club our hatered and do something about it, cribbing is easy!!!

@ The writer,

Well said, but maybe you could include some data to substantiate your points, that way it would be more consistent and not likely to be misunderstood.

well basically when man doesn't get what he wants he cries for attention.that's how we are brought up.there are a set of people who have legally approved ways of fulffiling or atleast hope to be fulfilling their dreams. they carry on their lives with resignment. the others who don't seem to get hold of such relatively easy ways, turn to violence.the government which is the only possible solution has to function properly and by that i mean it is going to be very very difficult.soially we are in a biiii mess and cleaning it requires a lot of lot of things.

every cupboard has its skeletons. it is no use bringing them out, if one can do nothing about them.
IMHO what we need is a strong and robust economy, the social system will fall into place on its own(though there will always be some rough edges).
Economy affects society, not the other way round.

Agreeably, coming from a third party's view, the way India is presented to the world greatly underestimates the truth and its very essence. It is unfair and the blemish are unfairly positioned. However, the same is with everyone. Why is it that people find so much pleasure in other's displeasure? Why do we tend to focus on the negatives rather than the positives?

India is going backward instead of forward - cheap publicity seekers are filing idiot cases just for fame !

To really be the "democractic" country India shows it is... the government and the public need to work together but wat happens here is 'blame game'... the public puts the blame on d government .. the government puts in on the anti-social elements or terrorists n so on..... its high tme tht we stop searching for the cause n start concentrating on the solution!!!
